A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

The adage from an old Chinese proverb, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” undoubtedly holds true today. From images of 9/11 to the famous photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse in New York's Times Square on V-J Day, photographers possess the art and innate talent to capture a moment at its most raw state...evoking emotions that draw you into the lives of strangers.

Perhaps my most favorite photographer is a friend, Elizabeth McAlevey, who travels the world doing high fashion photography. When she’s not at a photo shoot, she still carries her camera religiously so she can capture shots like this one – of a native Jamaican – while on vacation last month.
